There are two aspects to our donations support:

• in-kind or financial support for community development activities where we have operations
• financial support from our corporate head office.

Community development activities

Supporting worthy causes is one component of our evolving community affairs strategy. With increasing dialogue, we’ll be able to better understand community priorities and make more meaningful contributions. Decisions to support local causes are made by senior management at each operation on a case-by-case basis.

Corporate donations

Our corporate donations are managed by a committee at head office. The committee is made up of four senior executives from different functional areas who review donation requests on an ongoing basis. Each request is evaluated on several criteria, including the relevance to our business.

Requests must receive the approval of at least two members of the committee before a donation is approved.

We encourage our employees to support charities, non-profit organizations and other good causes, and provide donations for employee-sponsored charities. As a matter of policy, we do not make donations or contributions to any candidate for public office or political party.
